Year 4

Autumn 1

Over this half term Year 4 will be following a unit of work on a theme which focuses on ‘the Rainforest.
During this unit we will be focusing on ICT, Geography, Science, Art and Music.

Geography
In Geography, we will be learning about the location of rainforests; the people who live there and the problems caused by deforestation.

Science
In Science, we will be investigating the different parts of a plant, how plants grow and the lifecycle of a plant. We will also be studying the layers of the rainforest, and after half term we will learn about habitats.

 

Art and DT
In Art, we will be practising different techniques to recreate plant life. We will be making rainforest animals using levers after half term.

Music
In Music, we will be experimenting with sounds linked to the rainforest and recording our own work.

ICT
In ICT, we will be creating our own rainforest storyboard using different software.

Literacy
Our Literacy will be split into two sections:-

1. We will be using our knowledge of the rainforest to write information texts and reports.
2. We will be creating our own magical worlds and writing fantasy stories.
